The Israeli occupation forces have intensified their deliberate targeting of shelters for displaced people in the Gaza Strip between September 17 and 23, 2024. According to the Media Observatory of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Israeli Crimes against Palestinians, 229 martyrs were recorded during this period, and the number of wounded Palestinians reached 501. Since October 7, 2023, until September 22, 2024, the total number of Palestinian martyrs has reached 42,147, while the number of injured stands at 101,568.
On September 22, 2024, the 181st massacre targeting a shelter in Gaza took place, following the attack on Al-Falah School in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, which claimed the lives of 20 Palestinians, including an infant. Within 72 hours, Israeli occupation forces committed 12 massacres, resulting in 119 Palestinian deaths and 209 injuries, in addition to the destruction of residential blocks in Rafah. Furthermore, eight Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Ibn Al-Haytham School in the Al-Shuja’iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza, alongside other massacres in Deir al-Balah, Al-Daraj, and homes in eastern Al-Bureij, which were sheltering dozens of Palestinians.
On the living conditions front, media reports have indicated that the Gaza Strip is experiencing the highest inflation rate in the world, making it the most expensive place to live due to the severe scarcity of food supplies in the affected areas.
