As part of the activation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), and in line with the priority given by the OIC in its Ten-Year Program of Action until 2025 to combating terrorism and extremism, the Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the OIC, Youssef bin Mohammed Al-Dobeay, participated on behalf of the Secretary-General in the scientific symposium organized by the IMCTC. The event, titled “A Forward-Looking Vision for Combating Terrorism through Digital Technologies,” was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the coalition's headquarters in Riyadh.
The symposium, which brought together a distinguished group of thinkers, researchers, and international experts from member states of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) and beyond, alongside the Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center and representatives of global organizations concerned with combating terrorism, reviewed the latest developments and challenges of extremism. It also explored future trends within the scope of IMCTC’s areas of work, focusing on the exchange of expertise and perspectives among entities involved in countering terrorism and violent extremism. Additionally, the symposium aimed to develop effective mechanisms to address the use of digital technologies by terrorist groups at the international level.
