The General Secretariat participates in the 10th International Arabic Language Conference held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), represented by the Department of Cultural Affairs, participated as a guest of honor in the 10th International Arabic Language Conference held from October 10 to 12, 2024, in Dubai. The event was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. This participation aligns with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the General Secretariat and the International Council for the Arabic Language on May 29, 2024, aimed at supporting and enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in international forums and ensuring its continued prominence and brilliance.

The conference witnessed the participation of several member states, regional and international organizations, and civil society institutions concerned with the Arabic language. During the event, the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, the largest award in the history of the Arabic language, was presented. Additionally, hundreds of research papers and scientific and field studies related to the Arabic language across various disciplines and professions were published. Numerous innovative initiatives aimed at supporting the teaching and dissemination of the Arabic language through creative methods were also introduced.

The General Secretariat also participated in moderating the ninth session of the conference, titled "Efforts of National, Arab, and International Organizations and Institutions in Serving the Arabic Language." During the session, it highlighted the efforts and activities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in strengthening the role of relevant institutions in this regard.

The convening of this conference aims to advance the Arabic language and preserve the Arab-Islamic identity, contributing to the utilization of knowledge in the Arabic language and affirming its presence across different civilizations. This is achieved through the exchange of information, documents, and publications related to topics of mutual interest, particularly those concerning language policies, the promotion of Arabic language education, and ensuring its dissemination both regionally and internationally.

The participation of the General Secretariat in this conference comes as part of its efforts to support the presence, dissemination, and empowerment of the Arabic language (the language of the Qur'an), in implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. 13/50-C on the Arabic language. This resolution was issued during the 50th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held on August 29–30, 2024, in Yaoundé, Republic of Cameroon. It aims to enhance and support the presence of the Arabic language (the language of the Qur'an) and its use in regional and international forums.
